Naval forces from Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States are participating in the NATO Allied Maritime Command-led exercise Dynamic Mongoose 2017, June 27 – July 6, in the North Atlantic Ocean.

The exercise is designed to enhance anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capabilities and increase theater ASW capacity among participating navies through realistic training. Dynamic Mongoose 2017 also serves to build interoperability and strengthen the enduring relationships among participating allied forces.

"We look forward to this training opportunity with our NATO allies and partners. While promoting international security and stability, Dynamic Mongoose will serve to fortify theater ASW capabilities, enhance interoperability and strengthen alliances within the European theater."

-Capt. Roger Meyer, commander, Task Force 69

A Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine, the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS James E. Williams (DDG 95), a P-8A Poseidon, and two P-3C Orions are the U.S. assets scheduled to participate in the exercise.

Dynamic Mongoose 17 highlights the inherent flexibility of maritime forces to demonstrate theater ASW proficiency, providing the right presence where we need it, when we need it. As NATO allies, we enjoy relationships built upon shared values, experiences and vision committed to promoting peace and stability in the region.
