The port visit serves to demonstrate the U.S. Navy's continued commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships in the European and African region.

"The crew has been working very hard this patrol,” said Cmdr. Craig Trent, commanding officer of Porter.  “This is a great opportunity for them to enjoy some down time while visiting the city of Copenhagen. This is the largest port we have visited this patrol and we look forward to everything the capital of Denmark has to offer.”

Porter, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is on its sixth patrol in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S national security interests in Europe and Africa.

U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint, and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
