The “Red Lancers” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 10 detached to Amari Air Base, Estonia, to promote maritime security while developing a relationship with the Estonian Defence Forces. This Det. marks the first time a P-8A Poseidon has operated out of Estonia.

Combat Air Crew (CAC) 7 departed from Sigonella, Sicily, to conduct maritime domain awareness flights in support of United States and NATO assets. Operating out of a distant location, the P-8A Poseidon showcased its operational flexibility and capability to execute global missions. The crew received strong support from the Estonian military, strengthening the alliance between NATO members in the effort to keep open waters secure.

“I was impressed by the professionalism and eagerness of the Estonians,” said Lt. Thomas Cleary, the officer in charge of the Det. “We look forward to using communication channels established during this detachment to increase interoperability between our forces.”
