VP-45 Arrives in Aalborg for Northern Coasts 2016

AALBORG, Denmark – A P-8A Poseidon from Patrol Squadron (VP) 45 arrived in Aalborg, Denmark, for exercise Northern Coasts 2016, Sept. 5.

Exercise Northern Coasts is a German Navy-hosted multi-national exercise involving advanced in-port and at-sea training including mine warfare, anti-submarine warfare, and surface warfare in the littoral.

Quick Facts: 
Northern Coasts was the first exercise to be supported by the new P-8A Poseidon on its maiden operational deployment to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.VP-45 provided support to multiple anti-submarine warfare operations and one anti-surface warfare mission.
The P-8A is replacing the P-3C Orion which has provided worldwide maritime air patrol for over 50 years.
VP-45 is in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operation in support of U.S National security interests in Europe and Africa.
U.S. 6th Fleet headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint, and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa
