Command Master Chief Richard P. O'Rawe
Command Master Chief Richard P. O'Rawe, a native of Long Island, N.Y., was raised in Florida and enlisted in the Navy Oct. 1992. He began his Navy career by completing recruit training at Recruit Training Command (RTC), Great Lakes, Ill., Dec. 1992. (Class 23).
Upon completion of Engineman “A” and “C” School, O’Rawe reported to his first ship, USS Aubrey Fitch (FFG 34) homeported in Mayport, Fla. In Dec. 1997 he decommissioned Fitch and then served aboard USS Shamal (PC 13), homeported in Little Creek, Va. In Nov. 1999 he transitioned to shore duty at RTC Great Lakes, Ill. Subsequent tours of duty include: USS Halyburton (FFG 40) homported in Mayport, Fla. and RTC.
O'Rawe was selected to the Command Master Chief program Jan. 2008. In June 2008 he was selected as the interim Command Master Chief of RTC Great Lakes, Ill. In Feb. 2009 O'Rawe reported to USS Barry (DDG 52) as the Command Master Chief where he completed two deployments and the crew earned the Battle Efficiency “E” award.
Upon completion of his Command Master Chief tour aboard Barry, he was selected as Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Europe’s Senior Enlisted Advisor in Stuttgart, Germany. Following that he served as Command Master Chief for Commander, Logistics Group Western Pacific. He reported to Naples, Italy in July 2016 to serve as the U.S. 6th Fleet Command Master Chief.
He graduated U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 143 Gold, the Command Master Chief and the Keystone Course 12-2. He qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare and Master Training Specialist. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Service Medal, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, ten Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, five Good Conduct Medals and various unit and campaign awards.
