Successful Obangame Express 2018 Concludes

USNS Spearhead and NMCB 11 Repair Orphanage in Gabon

PORT GENTIL, Gabon – Embarked military and civilian mariners assigned to the joint high-speed vessel USNS Spearhead (JHSV 1) and Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 11, worked together to renovate an orphanage in Port Gentil, Gabon, April 8, 2015.

While in Gabon, the service members helped paint the facility and assisted with repairs. Additionally, they spent time interacting with the children and played several friendly games of soccer, football and basketball.

USNS Spearhead arrives in Gabon for Africa Partnership Station

PORT GENTIL, Gabon – Joint high-speed vessel USNS Spearhead (JHSV 1) and its embarked detachment of U.S. Navy Sailors, civil service mariners and U.S., Spanish and British Marines conduct the Gabon phase of Spearhead’s support to Africa Partnership Station in Port Gentil, Gabon, April 6, 2015.

While in port, Spearhead’s embarked military detachment will conduct bilateral training with Gabon military forces to enhance interoperability and partnership. The crew also plans to paint and repair a local orphanage while in port.
