Commander, NAVEUR-NAVAF and Fleet Master Chief Visit NAS Sigonella

NAVAL AIR STATION SIGONELLA, Sicily – Adm. Mark Ferguson, Commander, U.S Naval Forces Europe-Africa (NAVEUR-NAVAF), and NAVEUR-NAVAF Fleet Master Chief Steven Giordano paid a visit to Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella, Sicily and held an all-hands call, Jan. 21, 2016. When asked about what he believes is the greatest change during his hard career, Ferguson remarked on the significant role of global connectivity, the evolution of information technology, and the professionalization of the enlisted force.

Exercise Dogu Akdeniz Concludes

Status of the Fleet: Nov. 2, 2015

Sailors, operating forward in the U.S. 6th Fleet, conduct daily operations, port visits and engage with allies and partners to maintain a forward presence throughout Europe and Africa and improve maritime security.

Ferguson Visits with Icelandic Leadership

REYKJAVIK, Iceland – Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa, Adm. Mark Ferguson completed a visit to Iceland Oct. 30, 2015, during which he met with Mr. Jorundur Valtysson, director general, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other senior Icelandic officials. Ferguson discussed the importance of continued cooperation and coordination on a range of issues including the Arctic and received several briefings and toured Keflavik’s Air Base and port facilities. Ferguson and U.S. Ambassador to Iceland, Mr. Robert Barber, also had a chance to discuss the capabilities of the U.S.

U.S. Forces to Participate in Dogu Akdeniz

NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY NAPLES, Italy - USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) and a P-3C from Patrol Squadron (VP) 9 will participate with Turkish forces in the Turkish-led maritime exercise Dogu Akdeniz, set to begin Oct. 27.

Held Biennially, the exercise is meant to increase interoperability between the U.S. and Turkey.

U.S. P-3C Orion and Crew to Conduct ASW Tactical Exchange with Romania

COSTANTA, Romania – A U.S. Navy P-3C Orion from Patrol Squadron (VP) 9 arrived in Constanta, Romania Oct. 11 to participate in a three-day anti-submarine warfare exchange with the Romanian Navy. Sea Breeze 2015 Kicks off in Odesa, Ukraine

ODESA, Ukraine – Maritime forces from 11 nations kicked off the U.S.-Ukraine co-hosted multinational exercise Sea Breeze 2015 in Odesa, Ukraine and the Black Sea, Sept. 1. Sea Breeze, now in its 14th iteration, is an annual exercise held in Odesa, Ukraine and the the Black Sea which seeks to enhance interoperability and strengthen regional security.
