Adm. Foggo Presents Award to Spanish Surgeon

Adm. James G. Foggo III, commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and commander, Allied Joint Force Command Naples, Italy, presented the Superior Public Service Award on May 4, 2018 to Dr. Pedro Cavadas, a reconstructive surgeon at Hospital de Manises in Valencia, Spain, for outstanding surgical care rendered to a U.S. Navy Sailor who severed his right hand in an industrial accident at sea.

VALENCIA, Spain (June 28, 2015) – The amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) arrived in Valencia, Spain for a scheduled port visit June 28, 2015.

The port visit also serves to enhance U. S. – Spain relations as the two nations work together for a stable, secure, and prosperous Europe.

Iwo Jima ARG/MEU Transits U.S. 6th Fleet to U.S. 5th Fleet

MEDITERRANEAN SEA - The Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group/ 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit transits from U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations (AOO) to U.S. 5th Fleet’s area of responsibility Jan. 10, 2015.

The ARG/MEU, comprised of embarked Marines from the 24th MEU, the multi-purpose amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), the amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43), and the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21), entered U.S. 6th Fleet’s AOO Dec. 20, 2014.

USS Fort McHenry to Spend New Year’s in Valencia, Spain

VALENCIA, Spain – The Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43) pulled in to Valencia, Spain for a scheduled port visit Dec. 29, 2014.

The visit will give Sailors the opportunity to build relations with the people of Spain while affording them a chance to enjoy the remainder of the holiday season in port.
