NORMANDY, France - Fleet Master Chief Derrick Walters, the fleet master chief of U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and Allied Joint Force Command Naples (center), and U.S. Navy SEALs assigned to Special Warfare Unit 2 re-enact the D-Day mission Navy Combat Demolition Unit Sailors conducted in the cover of darkness to clear the beaches for the main invading force on Utah Beach, June 6, 2019. More than 1,300 U.S. service members, partnered with 950 troops from across Europe and Canada, have converged in northwestern France to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Operation Overlord, the WWII Allied invasion of Normandy, commonly known as D-Day.
