NORTH ATLANTIC OCEAN - 191021-N-BM428-0275 NORTH ATLANTIC OCEAN (Oct. 21, 2019) Sailors request permission from Cmdr. Kelley T. Jones, commanding officer of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destoryer USS Donald Cook (DDG 75), and Cmdr. Matt Curnen, executive officer of the ship, to be called a Bluenose during the Bluenose ceremony aboard the ship, Oct 21, 2019. When a ship crosses into the Arctic Circle the crew become Bluenoses in Navy Tradition. Donald Cook, forward deployed to Rota, Spain, is on its ninth patrol in the U.S. 6th fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe and Africa.
