NORTH SEA - Norwegian Chief of Defense Gen. Eirik Kristoffersen, front to back, U.S. Ambassador to Norway Marc Nathanson, center, and Chief of the Royal Norwegian Navy Rear Adm. Rune Andersen, pass through ceremonial sideboys on the flight deck of the first-in-class aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), May 22, 2023. Members of the Kingdom of Norways government, military and media embarked on Ford to meet with Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group (GRFCSG) leadership and learn about the capabilities of Ford-class aircraft carriers. Gerald R. Ford is the U.S. Navys newest and most advanced aircraft carrier, representing a generational leap in the U.S. Navys capacity to project power on a global scale. The GRFCSG is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet to defend U.S., allied, and partner interests.
