George E. Glass,  U.S. Ambassador to Portugal, visited the Arleigh Burke-Class guided-missile destroyer USS Gravely (DDG 107) while in port in Ponta Delgada, Portugal, May 8, 2018.

Glass and his wife, Mary Glass, were accompanied during their visit by Jason Chue, principle officer of U.S. Consulate Ponta Delgada, as well as various members of local press.

“It was an honor to host Ambassador Glass aboard Gravely,” said Cmdr. Michael O’Reilly, executive officer of the Gravely. “He shared recommendations with the crew on how to best experience the rich culture, history and sights of Sao Miguel Island, which we will certainly take advantage of while we are here.”

Gravely’s crew will participate in a community relations project and host tours for Portuguese students later this week.
