By By U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa / U.S. Sixth Fleet Public Affairs

On Oct. 1, 2024, Electrician’s Mate (Nuclear) 1st Class Jelani A. Hill, assigned to USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), passed away from a medical emergency unrelated to shipboard operations as the aircraft carrier transited the Atlantic Ocean on a scheduled deployment. The Sailor was admitted and treated in the ship’s Intensive Care Unit, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

We mourn the loss of Petty Officer Hill. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and shipmates during this difficult time.

The ship is currently operating in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operation. U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
