The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Paul Ignatius (DDG 117) arrived in Helsinki, Finland, Dec. 2, 2022, marking the completion of the ship’s participation in the Finnish Navy Command-led exercise Freezing Winds 22.Headquartered in Naples, Italy, NAVEUR-NAVAF operates U.S. naval forces in the U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) and U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM) areas of responsibility. U.S. Sixth Fleet is permanently assigned to NAVEUR-NAVAF, and employs maritime forces through the full spectrum of joint and naval operations.

USCGC Hamilton (WMSL 753) arrives in Turku, Finland

The Coast Guard's newest National Security Cutter, the 418-foot Cutter Hamilton successfully completed several days of rigorous acceptance trials Aug. 18, 2014 off the coast of Pascagoula, Mississippi, to ensure the cutter meets its contractual requirements and is ready for delivery to the Coast Guard. Hamilton is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet, to defend U.S., allied and partner interests.
