Navy Seabees Partner with Norwegian Defense Estates Agency

(March 15, 2023) Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 1 Detail Nordic and personnel from Forsvarsbygg, the Norwegian Defense Estates Agency (NDEA), partnered together to conduct training on multiple cold weather construction efforts on Evenes Air Station and Ramsund Naval Base, Norway, March 15, 2023. CTF 68 headquartered in Rota, Spain, commands all Navy Expeditionary Forces in U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command areas of responsibility and is responsible for providing EOD operations, naval construction, expeditionary security, and theater security efforts in direct support of U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and U.S. Sixth Fleet.

SPAIN (Feb. 22, 2023) An F/A-18E Super Hornet, attached to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 86, and Danish F-16s fly over Spain during a tactical Leadership Program event, Feb. 22, 2023. Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7 is the offensive air and strike component of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 10 and the George H.W. Bush CSG. The squadrons of CVW-7 are VFA-86, VFA-103, VFA-136, VFA-143, Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 140, Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 121, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 5, and Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 46. The George H.W. Bush CSG is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet to defend U.S., allied, and partner interests.
U.S. Sixth Fleet Develops Wargaming Capability

The U.S. Naval Post Graduate School (NPS) conducted a two-week Basic Analytic Wargaming Course (BAWC) for U.S. Sixth Fleet on Naval Support Activity (NSA) Naples, Italy, Feb. 27-March 10, 2023. For more than 80 years, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-U.S. Naval Forces Africa (NAVEUR-NAVAF) has forged strategic relationships with allies and partners, leveraging a foundation of shared values to preserve security and stability. Headquartered in Naples, Italy, NAVEUR-NAVAF operates U.S. naval forces in the U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) and U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM) areas of responsibility. U.S. Sixth Fleet is permanently assigned to NAVEUR-NAVAF, and employs maritime forces through the full spectrum of joint and naval operations.

Lopes, a Boston native, immigrated from Cabo Verde as a child and returned for the first time during AMFS.
