CTF-64

 

Based in Naples, Italy, Commander, Task Force 64 (CTF 64) is a component of the U.S. 6th Fleet, with a mission established on March 24, 2016. It is responsible for executing all facets of joint, Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) from the maritime domain. This includes the planning, integration, and execution for assigned forces of U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa (NAVEUR-NAVAF), the U.S. Sixth Fleet, and Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO).

CTF 64 exercises operational control over the Aegis Ashore missile defense sites in Romania and Poland and also oversees the Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD)-equipped destroyers stationed in Rota, Spain. As a Voluntary National Contribution to STRIKFORNATO, CTF 64 facilitates the rapid integration and employment of the Alliance's naval combat capabilities across IAMD and Strike missions. Additionally, during Phase 0 operations, it provides direct IAMD planning support to USAFE, USAFAF, STRIKFORNATO, AIRCOM, and JFC Naples.
