USS Porter Departs Naval Station Rota, Begins Sixth FDNF Patrol

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78) departed Naval Station Rota, Spain, to begin its sixth forward-deployed naval forces (FDNF) patrol in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations, Dec. 27, 2018.

The ship's patrol is a demonstration of the U.S. Navy's continued commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships in the European and African region.

"This marks the ship’s sixth patrol since being forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, and we are excited to contribute to the Navy's overall mission. The crew has worked extremely hard preparing for this patrol over the last four months. Today, we set sail and are ready to accomplish the mission."

While on patrol, Porter will conduct naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe.
