The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS McFaul (DDG 74) entered U.S. 6th Fleet’s Area of Responsibility (AOR) Aug. 27, 2019.
McFaul is conducting a routine deployment in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe, increased theater security cooperation, and forward naval presence in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.
“The crew of the McFaul is excited to return to the Mediterranean and finish deployment strong,” said Cmdr. Rusty Williamson, commanding officer of McFaul. “We look forward to continuing our mission here in U.S. 6th Fleet and the opportunity to work with our allies in the region.”
While in theater, Sailors aboard McFaul will participate in training evolutions to strengthen areas in watch standing, damage control, and warfighting.
U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
