Kearsarge Visits Spain

By Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Kaitlyn E. Eads

The Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) arrived at Naval Station Rota, Spain for a scheduled port visit June 30, 2019.

“This visit will allow Kearsarge Sailors the opportunity to experience the hospitality of Rota and the rich culture of Spain at an ideal time of the year to enjoy the mild coastal weather, fresh seafood, quaint narrow streets, and warm hospitality,” said Capt. Jason Rimmer, commanding officer of Kearsarge. “The visit also demonstrates the United States’ commitment to this vital region of the world.”

Kearsarge is deployed to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of regional allies and partners as well as U.S. national security interests in Europe and Africa.
